Kuala Lumpur is known for its food culture and a wide range of cuisines. What we really love in KL is Middle Eastern cuisine. The Castle is a perfect place to try Arabian food.

This restaurant is more popular among locals, it is not a tourist spot. But the Castle is a really hidden gem for meat lovers. For us it is all about mixed grill, hummus and Arabic tea.

We love this place for its:

- super delicious grills

- spectacular view at Petronas Tower

- shisha

- affordable prices

We knew about the restaurant from our local friend. Now every time we are in KL we go to the Castle. Evening time is very busy so better to book a table in advance.

Atmoshpere and Decor

Decor is quite simple, can be called as a local place. But at night the whole restaurant is in coloured lights and it looks very nice. There are many tables outside and if you choose that one you will have a spectacular view to Petronas Towers.

At day time the picture is different but still you have Petronas:)

Menu

To begin with, The Castle is a Muslim restaurant so don't expect any alcohol here, only healthy fresh juices and authentic Arabic tea. For Arabs drinking tea is a way of life, a part of their culture.

Tea is super aromatic, with some Arabic spices and served in small crystal cups. And the price for a small cup is 2 RM.

As an appetizer we always order hummus. It is a dip made from ground chickpeas, olive oil, garlic and lemon. It is a very popular appetizer in the Middle-Eastern cuisine.

Hummus with minced beef on top is highly recommended. It goes with a very fresh bread - pita. The price for this appetizer is 18 RM.

Hummus & tahinah costs only 10 RM.

One more appetizer we like so much is mutabal. Another name for it is baba ghanouij. Mutabal is also a dip but made from eggplants, garlic and lemon juice.

The Castle is very popular for its grills. The menu consists of beef, chicken, lamb grills, mixed grill, kebabs, shawermas and even  fish on a grill.

What we really love is mixed grill. For just 25 RM you get a delicious plate with grilled beef, chicken and lamb accompanied by tasty sauce, chopped onion, tomatoes and french fries or rice as a side. And the portion is pretty big, good for sharing.

Believe us, this is the best mixed grill ever! Meat is tender, juicy and professionally grilled. For such a good price you get a really authentic Arabian dish of a high quality. For instance, In Singapore for the same quality, the price for mixed grill will be three times more expensive.

The Castle is a hidden gem in the heart of Kuala Lumpur to have an authentic Arabian food for a reasonable price. In our personal rating the Castle got a high score. That's a real value for money.
